A fire broke out near Rockefeller Center Friday night.

Firefighters were called to the scene just before 9 p.m.

Officials say it started in the basement of a TGI Friday's on Fifth Avenue.

No injuries have been reported.

Witnesses saw smoke for several blocks around the six-story building.

Pictures circulated on Twitter appearing to show flames shooting out of the roof of the building, but an FDNY spokesman said they were likely coming through a vent.

Some bus lines had to be rerouted, and traffic was backed up in the area. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
