A 14-year-old boy died after being hit by a car while crossing a street in Brooklyn Monday.

The accident happened just before 7 a.m. near the corner of Hicks and Lorraine Streets in Red Hook.

Police say the driver stayed on the scene.

People in the area say the intersection is dangerous.

"You cannot see. There needs to be a stop sign put here—all way stop sign—so somebody can see and stop and continue going," one man said.

"A lot of cars, they drive really fast and usually, like, if they see people crossing, they sometimes speed up and they just come flying by," another person said.

The accident is under investigation. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
