The New York Public Library has closed its largest reading room because of falling plaster.

Library officials say the Rose Main Reading Room inside the landmark building located at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue is shut down after a piece of plaster came down earlier this week.

The Bill Blass Public Catalog Room is also closed.

A staffer tells the New York Times it could take several weeks before the rooms reopen.
