A new poll finds New York State voters overwhelmingly support the use of medical Marijuana, while a smaller margin supports its recreational use.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Friday shows 83 percent of those asked favor medical marijuana to 15 percent who do not.

Two percent didn't know or didn't answer.

The poll finds 51 percent support the possession of small amounts of marijuana for personal use, while 44 percent disapproved.

Five percent said they didn't know or didn't answer.

The poll also showed that support came more from men than women, and young people more than old.

Voters who identified as democrats were also more likely to show support more marijuana.

In an election year, New York voters are divided 35 to 34 percent in their approval of the way Governor Andrew Cuomo is handling the issue of medical marijuana policy. ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
