The FDNY holds an event to give emergency medical technicians and firefighters a chance to meet patients they've saved.
It's called the "Second Chances Brunch."
The six patients are heart-attack survivors. Many don't even remember what happened to them, but say they know they survived because of quick-acting first responders.
"Great people. Really gave me a second chance at life and I really appreciate them for that," said one former patient, Jessi Saldana.
"Seeing the patient you saved happy, healthy and enjoying their lives really demonstrates how rewarding this career can be," said outgoing Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano.
The event is part of National Emergency Medical Services Week.
