Citi Bike workers could soon be joining subway and bus workers in the same union.

More than 50 percent of Citi Bike employees have signed authorization cards saying they want to be represented by Transport Workers Union Local 100.

That's enough support to try to get formally recognized as a union chapter.

Citi Bike has about 130 staffers including mechanics, dispatchers and docking station technicians.

Organizers say they chose Local 100 because cycling has become an above ground extension of the city's mass transit system.
