Former State Senator Catherine Abate has died.
Sources say Abate died Saturday night at Bellevue Hospice Care after battling uterine cancer.
Abate represented parts of Manhattan in the state Senate from 1994 to 1998 before running for atate Attorney General.
She also served as commissioner of both the city departments of Correction and Probation under former Mayor David Dinkins.
Most recently, Abate spent 15 years working as the president and CEO of the Community Healthcare Network.
