The NAACP has a new leader.
Cornell William Brooks will become the organization's 18th national president and CEO, taking the reins from interim president Lorraine Miller.
Brooks is 53 years old.
Brooks is currently the president and CEO of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice.
Before that he worked as a lawyer for the Federal Communications Commission and the Justice Department.
The South Carolina native was selected from a pool of more than 450 applicants and says he'll begin working immediately to plan for the organization's future.
Brooks will be presented to the group's members at their convention in July.
