The street artist who captured the imagination of New Yorkers last October with his elusive art residency has been named "Webby Person of the Year."
The award celebrates Internet achievement.
Banksy won for his work "Better Out Than In."
For 31 days Banksy kept New Yorkers guessing where his next piece would show up.
Each morning he would post his latest work on his website, sending crowds scrambling to snap pictures before they disappeared.
Other winners announced earlier include Jay Z, Google and the crowd funding site Kickstarter.
The awards ceremony is Monday in the city but it's doubtful the anonymous artist will show up to collect.
