Brooklyn's Long Island College Hospital will begin diverting fire department ambulances Thursday morning.

Ambulance service overseen by the hospital will run until May 22, the same day LICH is expected to close its doors.

The facility's owner - SUNY Downstate - is still working to find a new operator.

Brooklyn Health Partners had been the successful bidder to take over the hospital, but the deal fell apart after questions arose about the financial viability of the bid.

SUNY has been negotiating with second-place bidder The Peebles Corporation, but the bidder is not offering to maintain a full-service hospital at the site.
