The State Supreme Court has blocked state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's subpoena for records from the rental website Airbnb.

The site allows its users to find or advertise rooms or apartments for short-term sublets.

The state had subpoenaed the company for information about users in New York, saying they're violating tax laws and providing illegal hotels.

Airbnb refused to comply with the subpoena and said the attorney general used "unconstitutionally vague" laws as the basis for the inquiry.

The AG's office said the ruling was made because of a technical issue and the subpoena will be re-issued later this week. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
