A man is recovering after police responded to a shootout in the Fordham section of the Bronx early Sunday morning.
Police say they were called to 188th Street and Marion Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. and found a man involved in a shootout.
Police say they identified themselves and approached him, but they say he then pointed his gun at a lieutenant.
The lieutenant then fired five shots at the suspect, according to police.
The suspect was hit in the ankle, though it's not clear whose bullet actually struck him.
Police say they recovered the gun seen at left at the scene.
The suspect is being treated at St. Barnabas Hospital while in police custody.
Charges are pending.
