A man is in critical condition after a hit-and-run in Brooklyn.

Police say shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday, a 27-year-old man was struck by a car near Third Avenue and Seventh Street in Gowanus.

A witness who did not want to appear on camera says the driver hit a parked car before striking the man.

"He gets into the bike lane, accelerates, passes me. At this point, hits into the parked car and right behind the parked car was the guy getting into the car. The guy that he hit went flying into the back windshield, head first," the witness said.

Police say they believe the car involved was a black Nissan Altima.

The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
