An iconic fixture of Brooklyn's Clinton Hill neighborhood is now gone.

The Broken Angel house has been demolished.

According to DNA Info, after numerous attempts to keep the distinctive building standing, the Department of Buildings has cleared the property to make way for condo development.

Artist Arthur Wood and his wife Cynthia lived at the Broken Angel House since 1979 and built the unique wood and glass structure on top of their home.

However, a fire in 2006 prompted the city to declare their home unsafe.

Wood was evicted last year.

"It was always a really beautiful, interesting sight and then I moved closer by, and to watch it slowly deteriorate and now being totally taken down? I mean, sure, a part of me is sad about it, but this neighborhood is changing and we just have to accept that."

Condos are expected to be constructed on the site by next year.
