The Bronx is 100 years old this year, and to celebrate, it's honoring residents who have been around the whole time.
"Bronx Week" kicked off Wednesday with a tribute to the borough's centenarians.
The honorees talked to NY1 about Bronx pride, neighborhood memories and the secret to a long life.
"Everybody in the Bronx is nice to granny, and I always say there's no place better than the Bronx," said one person at the event.
"It was very good. Every hallway was open, every doorway. No matter. Come and have a glass of wine, come and have this, come and have," said another. "It's changed today."
"I have no secret," said a third. "I just go on."
Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted the event.
Bronx Week runs through May 18.
