A rarely seen piece by artist Claude Monet was among the paintings sold Tuesday at Christie's auction house in Manhattan.

Monet's "Water Lilies" topped the bidding with more than $27 million.

The painting dates to 1907, but hasn't been seen publicly since 1926.

Other paintings sold include Picasso's "Portrait of Dora Maar," which sold for more than $22.5 million.

Kandinsky's 1909 abstract landscape "Beach Scene" beat initial estimates, bringing in more than $17 million.
