A Brooklyn man is facing animal cruelty charges after police say he kicked a stray cat and video of the incident was posted online.

NY1 wants to warn the public that the footage shown in the video above is disturbing.

Police say 21-year-old Andre Robinson is the man seen in this clip luring the cat over, then kicking it across the courtyard of a housing complex in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The video was posted on Robinson's Facebook page on May 2 and has since gone viral.

Officials with the ASPCA rescued the cat and say they will try to find it a home.

Residents, including the suspect's mother, say it's been living in the apartment complex for years.

"I'm glad they caught the cat. I'm glad that I called to let the police know where the cat was at. So nobody can't say that they did. I called them. I wanted the cat to get rescued,” said one neighbor.

"I'm just feeling good they got the cat and they can check the cat out and find out if everything okay and they caught the cat so I'm happy,” said Irvin Berth, a neighbor.

Robinson was arrested Monday and is charged with aggravated cruelty to amimals.

Police say he has a number of prior arrests, including robbery.
