First Lady Michelle Obama took part Monday in the ribbon cutting for a new costume center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art named after Vogue fashion editor Anna Wintour.

Mrs. Obama, who has developed her own reputation as a fashionable first lady, was joined by big names such as Calvin Klein, Michael Kors and Donatella Versace.

The $40 million center is opening its first exhibit Thursday featuring the work of revered fashion designer Charles James who passed away in 1978.
