The city Department of Transportation and elected officials on Sunday unveiled the latest design proposal for the City Island Bridge.
The new bridge would replace the current one connecting City Island to the rest of the Bronx.
The "causeway-style" structure is similar to the existing bridge, which is now 113 years old.
Previous replacement designs had been criticized by residents who say they want the historic character of City Island Bridge preserved.
The project is still undergoing the review process and is expected to be completed by 2017.
