Police are searching for a man that they say sexually assaulted a 61-year-old woman in the Bronx last month. NY1's Magee Hickey filed the following report.

Neighbors who live in the area of East 168 Street and Walton Avenue were shown surveillance video Saturday of a man in his 20s who police say robbed and sexually assaulted a 61-year-old woman near by, and they are now concerned.

"It's horrible he's a young guy he should be doing something productive with his life instead of praying on a 61-year-old women who are just trying to live their lives in peace. Of course it's horrible," said Phyllise Villarosa, a Concourse resident.

The sexual assault and robbery happened at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, April 25. Police say the suspect followed the older woman into her apartment building and then sexually assaulted her and stole her purse in the hallway of the floor where she lives.

"It's pretty absurd to see something like this happening in our building I don't know this particular man," said Jose Rodriquez, a neighbor.

Police described the suspect as being in his 20s with long, dark hair in a ponytail, blue jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt, black sneakers and wearing a black Chicago White Sox baseball cap.

"I thought things were getting better in this neighborhood I've been here 15 years but now things like that really scare me," Villarosa said.

Police say the 61-year-old female victim was treated at a nearby hospital for the sexual assault and released the next day. Police say she is doing just fine.
