A construction project in Brooklyn is on hold as supporters of a community garden that once grew on the site get their day in court.

Members of the Coney Island Boardwalk Community Garden reached a temporary agreement with the city and the developers of a $53 million amphitheater.

They say their garden was illegally bulldozed by the city late last year to make way for the project and filed a lawsuit to stop it.

Developers agreed to stop construction until at least June 10, when the Kings County Supreme Court will hear the case.

Residents say the garden was in use for more than 16 years by up to 30 families growing fresh vegetables. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 (http://commoncrawl.org/faq/) Profile: TWCSAMLSP
