The New York Rangers have a date with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after beating the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in Game 7 of their first-round series at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Rangers got second-period goals from Dan Carcillo and Benoit Pouliot to take a 2-0 lead after two.

The Flyers' Jason Akeson scored a goal a little more than four minutes into the third period, but the Rangers made it stand up and held on for a 2-1 victory.

Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist made 26 saves in the win, while his Philadelphia counterpart, Steve Mason, had 31 saves.

Rangers fans were predictably excited following their team's big win.

"It feels way too good to watch all those guys have to go downstairs and get on that Amtrak," said one fan. "We get to walk home. They have to take the whole train back."

Fans were also optimistic about the team's changes against Pittsburgh in the second round.

"Of course they can beat the Penguins," said one fan. "Lundqvist is going to stand on his head, and we're going to do what we have to do, and we're going to win."
