The bid to ban horse drawn carriages in the city appeared to have secured a major boost Wednesday, as an organization that calls carriages inhumane reported Vice President Joe Biden would be speaking at its conference this weekend.
There's only one problem: Biden's team says the Vice President never RSVP'd.
The group is called Equine Advocates, and the conference is going to be held at a farm for horses seen as once headed for slaughter, including a former city carriage horse.
In a press release and an interview, a group spokeswoman said Biden would talk via video.
However, a White House official tells NY1 that Biden "was totally unaware of the event and never agreed to participate. Our records show that we did receive an invitation, but we never committed to anything."
The Equine Advocates spokeswoman called it a case of wires getting crossed and apologized for the confusion.
