Organizers of this year's Electric Zoo Music Festival say the event will be returning Labor Day weekend with bolstered safety regulations.

Last year's festival was cut short after 21-year-old Olivia Rotondo and 23-year-old Jeffrey Russ died of drug overdoses.

Now, organizers say new safety measures and increased security will be in place.

These include plainclothes undercover security officers and drug-sniffing dogs patrolling the crowds.

Festival-goers will also have to watch an anti-drug public service announcement before their tickets are validated.

This year's festival will take place on Randalls Island from August 29 through August 31.

Tickets go on sale next Tuesday.

City officials said they're still reviewing the application, but organizers say it's normal for large-scale events to start selling tickets before a permit is approved.
