Yankees starting pitcher Ivan Nova has been placed on the disabled list after tearing a ligament in his throwing arm.
Nova left Saturday night's game against Tampa Bay in the fifth inning with elbow soreness.
A post-game MRI revealed the pitcher has a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.
Before leaving the game Nova gave up a career-high four home runs.
Nova will be examined by the team physician on Monday.
