The family of a teen shot and killed by police last year is suing the department.

Kimani Gray, 16, was killed in March 2013 when police say he pointed a gun at two plainclothes officers in Brooklyn.

Now, his mother and sister have filed a federal wrongful death lawsuit, alleging that officers used illegal force.

The family's attorney says it will provide video evidence proving that police inflicted pain and suffering by not allowing the teen to receive emergency medical care.

The New York City Department of Law said it's reviewing the suit.
