Authorities have arrested a man that they say tried to smuggle tens of thousands of dollars of heroin through John F. Kennedy International Airport by hiding it in his underwear.
On April 1, U.S. Customs and Border Protection says its officers noticed Bernard Charles, who arrived from Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, acting suspiciously.
They took him to a private search room, where they say they found two packages containing nearly two pounds of heroin.
CBP estimates that the heroin is worth more than $70,000.
Charles faces federal narcotics smuggling charges.
Just a couple weeks before, another passenger on a flight from Trinidad was arrested for allegedly smuggling cocaine inside packets of frozen meat.
