Newly released surveillance video shows a man police say set fires at three houses of worship in Brooklyn.
Investigators say the man lit a newspaper on fire, burning the inside doorway of the Greater New Beginnings Church in Brownsville on Saturday.
Police say the following day, he tossed an unknown object through a window, starting a fire inside the bathroom of the Iglesia Cristiana Church on Pitkin Avenue.
Then, on Monday, police say the man struck again, this time by lighting a newspaper on fire at St. Mark's Church in Crown Heights.
In all incidents, the flames were quickly put out and only minor damage was reported.
Still, church members said they don't understand why someone would want to do this.
"There's churches right around that even someone need help, this is what we're here, to lend a helping hand," said one person.
"I just don't know what to say," said another. "People are just so vicious, wicked. They do things for nothing, you know, just foolishly."
"Let them come back because cameras going to be all. They're going to be from my house. The whole place is going to be in the next couple of days," said a third.
Police are investigating the arsons as anti-religious hate crimes.
