Dozens of Manhattan apartments were without water Monday night after a water main broke on East 21st Street in Gramercy Park early Monday evening.

The water main break was not repaired as of 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Residents of 70 apartments and the owner of a barber shop in the area hoped it didn't last much longer.

"Just heard, like, rain, but obviously, I look and then it was like, this whole block was just flooded, just a current of water. It was crazy. And we were worried because it was going to go inside the basement," said one resident.

"Right now, we have no water," the resident added. "We're waiting to hear from them to see what they say, and hopefully, we'll get it by tonight."

There was no word on the cause of the break as of 10:30 p.m. Monday.
