The city's Department of Finance has a new leader.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Jacques Jiha as the new commissioner on Tuesday.
Jiha emigrated from Haiti more than 30 years ago and most recently served as chief financial officer for the media company Black Enterprise.
De Blasio said Jiha's experience as an immigrant and a first-generation college student will help him relate to hard-working citizens.
"When he thinks about the Finance Department and all it does, he thinks about our need to serve everyday New Yorkers," de Blasio said.
"Be sure that as we administer the tax and revenue laws of the city, we will implement them in ways that are efficient, balanced, transparent and, more importantly, fair," Jiha said.
Engineer Feniosky Peña-Mora was appointed commissioner of the Department of Design and Construction, and Lisette Camilo was named director of the Mayor's Office of Contract Services.
