The dean of the city's congressional delegation picked up another high-profile endorsement for his re-election bid Tuesday.
House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced she's throwing her support behind Rep. Charles Rangel.
In an exclusive interview with NY1, the former House speaker said it's been an honor to serve with Rangel in Congress.
"As a member, his opinion and judgement is respected and sought after. His institutional memory of the place as to what works and what's the best approach to go is really a value to us," Pelosi said.
Pelosi also endorsed Rangel in 2012 despite having delivered the House's censure to him in 2010 for alleged ethics violations.
Rangel also has the backing of Sens. Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.
The Democrat is running for his 23rd term in the House and is gearing up for what's expected to be a tough primary rematch against State Senator Adriano Espaillat.
Harlem Pastor Michael Walrond is also expected to run for the seat.
