Mayor Bill de Blasio says he's committed to providing whatever support he can to the New York City police officer being detained in India.

Officer Manny Encarnacion was arrested in New Delhi on March 11 after customs officials there found bullets in his luggage.

He said he forgot to take the bullets out of his coat pocket before packing.

Rep. Peter King said Friday that he believed the arrest was in retaliation for the December arrest of India's then-deputy consul general for alleged visa fraud.

"Obviously, we want to know a lot more about what's going on, but so far, from what I'm hearing, I'm troubled by it, and I want to make sure we're providing support to him and make sure he's not being treated unfairly," de Blasio said. "So we got to get a lot more information, but we'll be all over it."

Encarnacion is barred from leaving India until the case is resolved.

His next court date is April 17.
