The 12-year-old Queens boy who accidentally shot and injured his older sister pleaded guilty this week to criminal possession of a gun.
The teen also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of assault during a hearing at Queens Family Court.
The young man now faces up to a year and a half in city or state custody.
Police say the teen accidentally shot his 14-year-old sister in the abdomen with a 22-caliber gun in their South Jamaica home in March.
Authorities say the young man claimed someone gave him the gun.
Police are looking to question the person they believe gave it to him.
During an investigation into a nearby shooting, officers discovered the gun was used in the murder of IT worker Mohamed Hamwi.
The systems analyst was shot in the face and chest just 10 blocks from the teen's home.
