The 16-year-old boy accused of breaking into the site of the World Trade Center last month faced a judge for the first time Wednesday.
In a brief interaction, the judge ordered Justin Casquejo to undergo a "youth assessment."
Authorities will take a look into his background and life circumstances.
He was ordered to return to court on April 30 after the assessment.
Casquejo faces criminal trespassing charges.
The Manhattan district attorney says Casquejo admitted he made his way up to the building's 104th floor, then went out on the roof and climbed a ladder to the antenna.
A security guard who was on duty at the time has since been fired.
