Police are investigating the shooting death of a man Monday night on Staten Island.

Police say officers answered a call of a shooting in front of a house on Grandview Avenue in Mariners Harbor shortly before 9 p.m.

When they arrived, they found 50-year-old Richard Salvia with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Local residents say the area is prone to robberies.

"It's crazy around here, man, it's just crazy because I have my family that I have to take care of and it's just sad. I came home last night- I thought it was an April Fool's joke. Sad, man," said one local resident.

Sources tell NY1 the victim worked as a deliveryman and was working at the time of the shooting.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
