The House of Representatives' top Democrat met with advocates from the tri-state area Monday to discuss immigration reform.
After a roundtable discussion, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi discussed topics that included deportation and the economic benefit of immigration reform.
Her message was clear. She wants to see a vote on a bill that would lead to comprehensive changes.
"We have, as Democrats, stood on the steps of the Capitol and asked our Republican colleagues to give us a vote," she said. "Immigration has always been, and always will be, a constant re-invigoration of America."
Democrats say the bill would pass the House if brought to the floor.
