The Taxi and Limousine Commission says one of its lieutenants was hurt during a routine town car stop in Queens this weekend when the driver tried to get away.

Police say it happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue in Jamaica.

The TLC says the lieutenant and an inspector pulled over a black town car on suspicion of illegal street hails.

That's when they say the driver took off with the passenger door open, hitting and dragging the lieutenant before getting away.

The lieutenant was taken to Jamaica hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials are still searching for the driver.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit ClientIP:,, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
