Police responding to a fire this past weekend in Brooklyn also led to the discovery of two shooting victims.

Officers say they got the call to the Stuyvesant Garden Houses in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 4:20 p.m. Sunday after reports of smoke coming out of an apartment.

Once inside, police say they found 24-year-old Qasim Mitchell with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was later pronounced dead at Woodhull Hospital.

Police also found a 38-year-old man in a courtyard behind the building with gunshot wounds to the shoulder and torso.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital and is in critical condition.

Both victims had multiple prior arrests.

Investigators are unsure if the shootings happened before or after the fire. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
