Police say a 14-year-old Brooklyn student was taken into custody Friday morning after he allegedly brought a gun to school.

It happened around 9 a.m. at the Leadership Preparatory Charter School in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Police say the student stashed an unloaded 22-caliber gun in his backpack.

They say the gun was discovered by the school principal and a safety officer, who searched him after getting a tip.

So far, no charges have been filed.

NY1 has reached out to the Department of Education for comment.
