A Bronx man was shot and killed over the weekend after friends say he was defending his mother.
Police say it happened at around 9 p.m. Sunday in the lobby of 562 Morris Avenue.
Investigators say Tony Burgess, 24, suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his head.
A memorial now stands in his memory.
The victim's godmother, says he stepped up to protect his mother, who had a bottle thrown at her because she was singing.
He was shot a short time later.
"I came out Monday and they told me my godson got shot in the head. And the people that did this, I don't want ya'll to think ya got over cause you didn't," she said.
So far, so arrests have been made.
