Union leaders are pleading with Mayor Bill de Blasio not to ban horse-drawn carriages from city streets.

The Central Labor Council sent a letter to the mayor urging him to drop his bid, saying the carriages are a top tourist attraction that generates millions of dollars in revenue.

The members also reminded de Blasio about the 300 workers who stand to lose their jobs if he has his way.

The letter was signed by two dozen union leaders, including United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew, who is one of the mayor's strongest supporters of universal pre-k.

Mayor de Blasio promised throughout his mayoral campaign that he would ban the carriages if elected. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
