Police are investigating an attack on a Manhattan subway platform as a bias crime.

Investigators say the suspect approached a 39-year-old man and his partner inside the West 4 Street-Washington Square station around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday.

They say he asked the two men if they were gay, but they ignored him.

Police say the attacker made derogatory statements then punched the 39-year-old in the face and ran away.

The victim suffered a broken nose and fractured orbital bone.

The attacker is described as being between 25 and 30 years old, 5'8" tall and weighing 170 pounds.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
