A Staten Island man has been arrested and charged with lying to police after police say he told them that he was carjacked with his son in the car.

Police say 46-year-old Terry Liaros told them Sunday night that he was unloading groceries at home.

He said that his other two children went into the house, but his youngest son was still in the car, according to police.

He told police that when he went to get him, his car and son were gone.

Investigators say they combed through surveillance video and found Liaros parking his car a block away and leaving the vehicle.

Police say he later admitted that there was no carjacking and that he had simply misplaced his son.

He was charged with falsely reporting an incident.

He could face up to a year in jail. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
