Two people were hurt Sunday when a taxi crashed into a building in the East Village.
Authorities say the driver was headed south on Second Avenue when he lost control and slammed into the storefront near 14th Street.
The store manager says no one inside was hurt.
An employee says he was surprised by the extent of the damage and feels lucky he was not inside.
"The store manager, and I was here working like maybe 12 hours ago. And I get a call that there's a cab where we were sitting and I'm a little bit shocked. I mean, it doesn't happen all day. I don't know where to come tomorrow," said the employee.
The fire department says the cab driver and his female passenger were taken to Beth Israel Medical Center with minor injuries.
