A Brooklyn mother accused of beating her 2-year-old son with a bamboo stick is facing assault charges.

Police say that 27-year-old Yayun Weng took her son to Maimonides Medical Center Thursday night, claiming that he had fallen out of bed.

Investigators say doctors called police after seeing that the boy had bruises on 90 percent of his body.

The boy is in the hospital in critical condition.

Weng is charged with three different counts of assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

She's also been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.

Child services says she has no prior history of abuse.

Weng is out on bail but is due back in court on Thursday. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
