Temperatures plummeted again Friday, but that didn't prevent many New Yorkers from bundling up and heading outside. NY1's Polly Kreisman filed the following report.
Feeling a little like a frozen fountain on Bryant Park's Fountain Terrace? Ready for the thaw? Or making the best of an unrelenting, uncomfortable, Siberian situation?
"I think it's amazing," said one person. "I love the cold."
"I don't notice it, even though it's so cold, my eyes are freezing," said another person. "It's so cold, but I love it. It's great."
Maybe after weeks and weeks of cold weather, some of these skaters don't remember summer.
"They wait all summer, spring just to come back out here on the ice," said one person. "They look like they're enjoying themselves. I think they just put up with the cold because they're having a lot of fun."
"I just like to do it with my friends a lot, and it's really fun to be on the ice," said another.
It seems that in this part of New York City, they're actually enjoying the Arctic blast. But what about people like one man working outside at night?
"It's hard to work, but you have to do what you have to do because that's the job. I do an outside job," the man said. "We get breaks in between, a lot of breaks in between. It's OK."
Or these folks working putting up an event tent in the park?
"Just being part of the whole season itself, from the beginning, loading and the unloading, it's just been a wonderful season for me," said one person. "I really appreciate being a part of this."
If they like this, they'll be thrilled for the forecast Sunday and Monday, which calls for a possible snowstorm.
