Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that the bulk of a new live action TV series to air on Netflix will be filmed in New York, making it the biggest production commitment in state history.

The Marvel Television and ABC Studio series will focus on four Marvel Defenders characters Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

The project is expected to create at least 3,000 jobs in the state and bring in hundreds of millions of dollars in investments.

"It is a very, very big deal. It's also very cool, especially for a guy like me who deals with what I deal with all day long. To be in the world of superheroes is very cool," Cuomo said.

Filming will start this summer, and the entire series will feature more than 50 hour long episodes. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
