Police are investigating after a woman was found shot to death in an apartment building in Harlem.

Police say they responded to a call at the St. Nicholas Houses early Sunday morning and found 24-year-old Gashier Mendy with gunshot wounds to her body and a cut on her face.

She was later pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

People NY1 spoke to in the neighborhood said that they're upset by the violence in their neighborhood.

"That's kind of rough. I didn't think nothing like that would happen out here like this," said one person. "I don't know what's going on."

"It's ridiculous, but I'm not surprised, 'cause this used to be like wild wild west over here, you know, everybody's getting killed," said another.

No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
