City Councilman Donovan Richards of Queens says that the principal of P.S. 106Q should be fired for her attendance record.

The Special Commissioner of Investigation says that Principal Marcella Sills of P.S. 106Q in Far Rockaway is often late or absent from work, but was still paid her full salary.

Investigators recommend that Sills should not be allowed to work for the DOE or any of its vendors in the future.

SCI also says that the school's former assistant principal, Tonya West, should be disciplined because she allegedly falsified her own time cards and attendance records.

Richards says he stands by SCI's decision.

"The principal should be terminated and step aside," he said. "This whole fiasco has been a distraction for the students of this school. It has brought down the morale of the institution significantly."

The Department of Education says it plans on following the recommendations.
