Streets on the Upper East Side of Manhattan were not only under snow Thursday, but under water as well.

A stretch of 81st Street between York and First Avenue began flooding in the morning.

Crews say they believe it's either a water main or a service line that ruptured.

"I didn't know where it was coming from, I just heard rushing water. I ran out from my bedroom, ran in the living room and there was a ton of water coming in. My husband opened up the door and it just all started pouring in, it was crazy. It started to get up almost to our knees in a matter of minutes," said one Yorkville resident.

"Well I first woke up, went in my bathroom to brush my teeth and I had no water just air coming out of the faucet," said another resident.

Water has been shut off to residential buildings in the area and street remains closed.
